Name:Asaanelain

Once, the land grew green and verdant. Every growing thing in the land was touched by magic, shining and wondrous, and the highborne all but breathed it. Their cities, their homes, their very lives were rife with it, and their schools taught its many uses. One such instructor was Asaanelain Swiftstream. A professor at Nar'Thalas Academy, he loved his work. Magic answered his beck and call, and he guided others in all he'd discovered.

And then, the Legion came.

The Legion came, attacked - the Queen betrayed them all, and the world fractured. Asaanelain saw everything change. His wife, his son. In one stroke, they were both gone. And as he stood on the shattered continent of Kalimdor, he fell into a deep, soul-broken nothingness. His people stopped being Highborne and became Night Elves. With the Well of Eternity shattered, their power came from the weaker Moonwells. All traces of arcane magics were shunned.

It mattered little to him, besides. Very little mattered at all. He lived among his people in Hyjal, but his attachment to them was torn. And so it remained until the return of one figure - one that, to Asaanelain, meant hope - brought him from thousands of years of stupor. When Illidan Stormrage showed how to use the Legion's power against it, a fragment of that green, corrupted fire found a home in Asaanelain, and he went with Illidan to Outland and became a part of his army. To fight the Legion, to see to the end of those who had ended his world: that became a cause he could devote himself to.

The fel energy did to him what it did to so many others. He grew horns from his skull, wings from his back. The power made glowing streaks in his skin, and burned out his eyes. His flesh toughened with growths almost like scales. But above all, he learned to fight. He learned to lead. And even when the Wardens took the Illidari by force, there was no regret in Asaanelain's mind. He had done what he saw necessary. And now, walking free among the people of Azeroth, fighting for their freedom once more, Asaanelain knows there is much to accustom to. But so long as there is a threat to the world that his wife and child once called home, a world broken by their forces, he will fight.

I have sacrificed everything. Azeroth must not fall.
